Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran was a businesswoman, investor and speaker from the United America. The Corcoran Group was a New York City real estate brokerage that she founded. NRT purchased it for $66million in 2001. Corcoran later left the business. Corcoran, one of ABC's original Shark investors, has been a part of every episode of Shark Tank. In February of 2020, Corcoran had made 53 deals, with the biggest being a $350,000 investment that included 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran was born in Edgewater (New Jersey) as the second of ten children in a Catholic Irish working class family. Florence Corcoran's mother was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. her father was a skilled worker throughout the years of Corcoran's childhood. Her family often relied on the free food delivery from a local grocery store. Corcoran says her father was a drunk who treated her mother with disrespectful and sarcastic remarks. Corcoran struggled throughout her schooling and later discovered that she had dyslexia. Corcoran attended an Catholic primary school within her community and started high school at St. Cecilia High School, Englewood. Corcoran who was in the process of failing numerous classes in her freshman year, transferred to Leonia High School. There she was awarded a D.
